Why choose back-to-base monitoring instead of “just an app”?
Many systems today can send alerts straight to your phone. That’s useful – but it also assumes:
- you always have coverage
- you’re always awake and available
- you can safely attend the site yourself
Back-to-base alarm monitoring adds a professional layer on top:
- 24/7 local control room: signals come straight to our Grade A1 monitoring centre, not just your mobile.
- Trained operators: staff assess what triggered the alarm and follow your pre-agreed instructions.
- Coordinated response: we can contact you, your keyholders, ASC mobile patrols or emergency services, depending on the event and your plan. Back2Base+2NRMA Site+2
- Coverage for more than intruders: intrusion, smoke detectors, panic/duress buttons and critical system alarms can all be monitored.

You keep the convenience of your app, but you’re not the only line of defence.
How our back-to-base alarm monitoring works
- Your alarm system sends an event
- Door/window contacts, motion detectors, smoke detectors or panic/duress buttons trigger an alarm.
- The signal is sent via secure paths such as 4G/LTE, IP or dual-path communicators designed for NBN environments.
- Our Grade A1 monitoring centre receives and interprets the alarm
- Events are received in our Gold Coast-based Grade A1 control room, built and audited to Australian Standards. aussec.com.au+1
- Operators immediately see what type of alarm occurred (e.g. burglary, fire, medical, power fail).
- We follow your site-specific response plan
- Contact you and your nominated keyholders in order of priority.
- Dispatch ASC mobile patrols where available or coordinate with your existing guard provider. aussec.com.au+1
- Escalate to Police, Fire or Ambulance where appropriate and in line with local guidelines.

- We log, report and fine-tune
- All alarm activations are logged.
- We can review patterns with you (false alarms, faulty devices, user errors) and adjust your system or response plan to improve security and reduce noise.

FAQs
What is back-to-base alarm monitoring?
Back-to-base alarm monitoring is a service where your alarm system is connected to a professional 24/7 monitoring centre. When your alarm activates, signals come straight to our operators who assess the event and respond according to your agreed instructions – instead of relying on neighbours or your phone alone.
Can you monitor my existing alarm system?
In most cases, yes. We can usually connect to existing alarm panels using a 4G/IP communicator or, if appropriate, legacy phone line monitoring. Your consultant will check compatibility and recommend the most secure option for your site.
How does alarm monitoring work with the NBN?
Traditional copper phone lines are being removed. We use NBN-ready 4G/IP communicators and appropriate poll rates so your system remains online even if power or internet fail, depending on the hardware selected and your risk profile.
Do you provide patrol response as well as monitoring?
Yes. ASC provides mobile patrols and guarding services, and we also work with trusted local patrol providers where needed. Your response plan will specify when patrols attend versus when we contact you or emergency services.
Do you only cover Brisbane and the Gold Coast?
Our monitoring centre is based on the Gold Coast, but we monitor sites across Queensland and nationally through our own services and partner network. If you have multiple sites, we can centralise your alarm monitoring under one provider.
